This project originated from the need to heat small spaces in off grid cabins. Harnessing the heat released by a candle is the core concept. In collaboration with George Rovas, an engineer specialized in fluid dynamics, we developed a simple yet effective system. A candle emits lots of heat which moves upwards, directly towards the ceiling of a room, dispersing quickly. Thanks to the internal steel structure and the thick terracotta module, the heat of the large soy candle is captured and radiated, evenly heating the surrounding area. In two hours the heater increases the temperature of a small 6 m² room (such as a bathroom) by 10° C.
